Getting Back on the RV Road Soon!

Since last October, our blog has covered our international travel (to Italy, Patagonia, and Antartica). However, we still have our RV, the Ciaowagen, and we're getting underway soon for our 2023 travels.

Our plan this year: a three-month circuit of the Great Lakes, plus a side trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Leaving in early June, we'll drive to New York State, then trace along the U.S. shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Along the way, we'll visit Rochester NY, Cleveland OH, and Detroit MI.

We'll circumnavigate Michigan's Lower Peninsula to bag Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, then head into Wisconsin to celebrate the Fourth of July. After that, we'll head to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and visit remote Isle Royale National Park which sits in Lake Superior.

From there, we'll head over to the Black Hills, spending time in Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, and Mount Rushmore. Coming back east through Iowa, we hope to take a tour of the Winnebago factory (where the Ciaowagen was born back in 2016).

Next we'll begin our traverse of the Canadian side of the Great Lakes, tracing along Lake Superior and Lake Huron. We'll visit Toronto, then head along Lake Ontario to the Thousand Islands area the St. Lawrence River. We'll pop back into New York and visit Lake Placid in the Adirondacks before heading home to Virginia.

We leave around June 5th. Stay tuned!
